Return to Skating Plan 2020-2021

During this unprecedented time, the health and safety of our members and their families are priority at the Trinity Placentia Figure Skating Club.

As we begin the 2020-2021 skating season, the following guidelines have been implemented.

Note: Guidelines will be evolving as there are changes in the recommendations from Skate Canada, Skate NL, the Government of NL and the Trinity Placentia Stadium Commission. Updates will be communicated as they occur.

Illness Protocols

As per the Department of Health and Community Services guidelines no one is permitted into the facility if they have any of the symptoms of Covid-19 or have been in close contact within the past 14 days that have the below symptoms:

  • Fever or signs of fever (including chills, sweats, muscle aches, lightheadedness), cough, headache, sore throat, painful swallowing, runny nose, diarrhea, loss of sense of smell or taste, unexplained loss of appetite, or small red or purple spots on your hands and/or feet.
  • If they have been diagnosed with Covid-19, are awaiting test results for Covid-19, or had close contact with a confirmed or probable case of Covid-19.
  • If they have returned to the province (outside the Atlantic Bubble) within the past 14 days.
  • If they have had close contact with anyone with acute respiratory illness and have travelled outside of the province (outside the Atlantic Bubble) in the past 14 days.
  • If they have been directed by Public Health to self-isolate.

If someone becomes sick or shows symptoms of Covid-19 then they are to isolate in the designated isolation room (first aid room) and wear a mask (provided by the user group) until they can leave the facility.  A designated club volunteer will report this to the Stadium Manager immediately so that additional cleaning can take place.

Facility guidelines

  • Only 1 spectator/parent per athlete will be permitted in the facility at this time and will be required to sit in the designated section of the bleachers (this will alternate each session). Only parent volunteers for skaters over the age of 12 will be permitted in the stadium.
  • Only designated washrooms are permitted to be used by the user groups.
  • The canteen and Bennett room are closed until further notice.
  • Closed off areas of the arena are for employee access only.
  • Face masks to be worn by all individuals 5 and older before entering the facility unless there is a medical reason in which a face mask or face shield cannot be worn. The face mask or face shield must cover the persons nose and mouth completely.
  • Face masks or face shields can be taken off in the dressing room before going onto the ice surface.

 Building Entrance and Exit

  • Skaters can enter the building no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of the session through their designated side entrance door (main entrance will no longer be available) and proceed directly to their designated dressing room. Dressing rooms are marked with physical distance markers.
  • Skaters requiring assistance with skates/equipment must use the designated area of the bleachers. No parents will be permitted in dressing rooms.
  • Skaters must exit the building through the same door they entered. Washroom facilities are located on each side of the building. Please use the washroom on the skater’s designated side.
  • All individuals are to sanitize their hands upon entering the facility.
  • Social distancing is to be maintained in this area and participants may need to wait outside (while socials distancing) until the area is sufficiently cleared.
  • Parents/spectators are encouraged to leave the facility immediately after end of session.
