Assessment Days
Skaters are always working towards goals that have been set between the skater and the
coach. When the coach feels that a skater is ready to try a test in either the Dance, Free Skate,
Skills or Artistic disciplines, the coach will inform the skater and the parent of their
intentions. If a skater is to try a test, it could be coach assessed on Club sessions or they will have to attend a designated “test day” where they
will be evaluated by a coach/judge. Skaters will receive an evaluation form for each of their tests tried
providing a detailed description on the different areas of their performance. If a skater
successfully completes the test, they move onto the next level within that discipline. If the skater needs
to retry they can do so at the next available testing session.
STAR 1-5 assessments are coach assessed on Club sessions and include Skills, Freeskate, and Dance.
STAR 6-Gold assessments for Skills and Artistic may be coach assessed or Evaluator assessed.
STAR 6-Gold assessments for Freeskate and Dance are Evaluator assessed.
